Energy therapy is a holistic approach. This means that I look at a person as a whole and I am not merely focused on their condition. So I also look at the way you lead your life, what kind of work you do, how you sleep, what you eat, your posture, etc.
In energy therapy the energy field that surrounds each living being is observed and influenced. The ruling principle is that illness or imbalance always manifests itself both in the body and in the energy field. The energy field can therefore be an entrance for healing of the body and mind. As a therapist I can address the self-healing capacity of the body.
This also happens with acupuncture or acupressure. The difference with energy therapy is that I rarely touch my clients and that I also try to ‘read’ the client’s energy field as much as possible, so that I gain insight into the client. This in turn serves the coaching conversations, for example with clients who find it more difficult to get to their feelings or who find it more difficult to talk about it.
You do not have to ‘believe’ in the existence of an energy field to participate in energy therapy. However, an open attitude and the will to break personal patterns are necessary.
